Are you concerned or frustrated with the way Minto is approaching the balcony waterproofing project at 255 Glenlake Avenue?
What’s Happening?
On June 1, 2022, with only 19 days notice before the start of project, Minto Apartment Limited Partnership announced to the residents of 255 Glenlake Avenue, Toronto that in order to initiate their planned waterproofing project, residents must clear all personal items from their balconies, and will be blocked from accessing their balconies on or after June 20, with an expected project completion date of November 2022.
Members of the Residents of High Park Village Group (RoHPV) believe that Minto has fallen short in their responsibility to tenants by not providing adequate notice, sufficient planning and communication, reasonable and equitable storage for everyone affected and compensation for the significant and valuable loss of living space for the duration of this project.
What We’re Doing
A growing group of residents are working together to coordinate a response to Minto and request reasonable changes to minimize the project’s impact to residents, and we need your support!
Our Proposed Asks
- Consult with residents through no less than two Town Hall Meetings, ensuring that these are accessible to attend by all residents who wish to participate, factoring in varying work schedules and availabilities.
- Postpone the project start date until Minto can provide legal notification, and reasonable responses to residents’ questions and concerns.
- Provide clear and detailed information on project timelines.
- Take reasonable steps to minimize the project’s impacts and disruption to residents.
- Provide adequate, secure storage solutions for residents’ furniture and personal items that must be removed from their balconies.
- Provide fair compensation to residents for lost living space.
We invite you to join the Residents of High Park Village Facebook Group to receive updates, provide input on these asks and participate in the conversation.
